David DeMott

President, Gridiron Insurance Underwriters

David DeMott is the president of Gridiron Insurance Underwriters, a specialty insurance program manager headquartered in Plantation. Gridiron underwrites specialty insurance products in 48 states.

Upon graduating from Florida State University (FSU) with a degree in risk management and insurance, David's insurance career began at Bass Underwriters, where he managed a large portfolio on the wholesale side for 8 years. He was also an intern at the Florida Department of Insurance (Actuarial Dept.).

Six years ago David assumed the role of president of Gridiron, and under his leadership it has grown an average 24% a year.

David sits on the Florida Surplus Lines Board and serves on the Legislative Committee. He also serves on WSIA Legislative Committee (National Surplus Lines Organization). David has a M.B.A from the University of Miami and also holds several insurance professional designations including ARM, ASLI, AU, CPCU and AMIM.
